At parts, I became overwhelmingly nauseated with the feeling of self-importance Harlan Brown contains that was not at all evident in the first novel.

I loved this beautiful and heartbreaking love story when I read it in my 20’s. This is a very touching book, though not as traumatic as The Front Runner for sure.

As Harlan progresses from d to “liberal”, nothing is mentioned about social programs or the other crazy stuff that, in today’s society, makes one a liberal. Those who read this 40 years ago got the simple message that love between two men is simply that.
